I know for all you men that you would never let your motorhome roof get in this state in the first place.

However, I keep mine at home in quite a shaded spot and I am afraid the roof looks an absolute mess.

It is greyish green, quite ingrained.

How can I clean it please bearing in mind that I don't like heights and can't really lift anything heavy above shoulder level.

Do any drive through car washes take motorhomes and would it be recommended anyway?

Oh dear Welshlady you really need help!

Our local hand car wash team will tackle anything at a price!

Have you got a local hand wash car wash who may do it?

Our window cleaner would also wash anything at a price but do be aware that whoever gets on the roof must protect the edge of the ladder that leans against the Motorhome and they must not stand on the roof which is over the cab.

Also you must not be over 12st to stand on our roof so watch their size too!

Have you got a nice neighbour?

If I was totally desperate I would put an advertisement in the local shop window for someone to do it on a regular basis, you never know what may happen!

Good Luck!

Val

These hand wash people then, do they actually just use a bucket and sponge?

I thought that they might get a jet wash on it and I have been told that it is unwise to use a jet wash on the motorhome panelling.

I haven't taxed the van for this year yet but need to get things sorted out.

They do have a jet wash and my hubby uses a jet wash on ours he just avoids pressure washing around the seams of the van, they also have sponges,I guess they will do what you ask them to do.

Have you looked for a valeting company in Yellow Pages?

They may do it,some of these mobile companys may do it if you have some ladders handy.

What about contacting your local Ambulance service,I know this sounds drastic but our local Ambulance service actually services Motorhomes so you never know if your paying they may clean the roof!

You did ask for ideas! I am just trying to think what I would do in your situation!

I would also contact my local Motorhome Service company, they will charge a fortune but it depends how badly you want it doing.

Welshlady

I wouldnt recommend going through a Drive Through Automatic Car Wash, even if it is a Commercial one. You could get damage to the roof lights or the status ariel.

Your best bet would be one of the car wash valeters places, they very often have the roll along stepladders to get to the roof of high vehicles. And if you have a fixed rear ladder for roof access they could use that. At most it will only be about a tenner, and you only need to have it done about once a year. I would also ask them not to use too high a pressure around the roof lights and areas where the body has sealer. These valeters are experienced, and will use a brush when its not acceptable to use a power washer. They should do it while you wait, so you can keep an eye on how they wash it.
