Just been reading previous stuff re the best satnav and most people seem to be coming our for Garmin.

Our local shop has a Garmin 360T that seems good value (although found better prices on the internet) but people on here are talking about Garmin 660.

Does anyone know the difference or has anyone got the 360?

Once again it is all down to what you want from your machine and how much you want to pay.

Do you want maps of Europe or just the UK, do you want Bluetooth so that you can phone "hands free" some may want the MP3 facility so that they can play music and some may want the added Speed Camera POI's.

When you have decided on your requirements then look for a system or systems that fulfill them. Do a comparison, make up your mind and pay your money.

I personally spent a considerable time time weighing up the pros and cons and decided to go for the Garmin 660. It had the maps of Europe that I wanted down to street level and it accepts an 8 digit Postal Code. It is a slim machine compared to the Tom Toms and easily slips into my pocket when not in use. It also has a large clear screen and it included Speed Camera POI's, Bluetooth, and an Audible Book facility that allows me to download books that I can listen to on my travels. Most important of all compared to some of the others, it connected and disconnected from its bracket without any hassle.

I cannot say whither it is any better than the other makes other than the fact that I have used it on countless occasions and it has never let me down.

you will have to let us all know how it works for you.

We have a Tom Tom 1 Europe. It links to my phone via bluetooth to give up to date travell info and if there is a problem it will warn of any problems ahead and if roads are closed or long tail back will re route me around the problem.

It is slimmer than the Tom Tom classic that I had before and is much faster locking onto satelites.

Never tried the garmin or navman units.

I have the Navman iCN 750 with the T1 Traffic module.  Absolutely fantastic, but the mapping software updates can be a pig to load.  The iCN 750 has an integrated digital camera but I don't see the point of this.  POIs include camp sites and there is the facility to create your own.

It's particularly good in France provided you remember that roads over there are undergoing a slow renumbering.

I had a posh built in MDO Dayton in my old A class which was brilliant but cost an arm and a leg, and couldn't be transferred from vehicle to vehicle.

Just find the one you want to do the job you want it to do and ensure that the mapping can be regularly updated.
