Hi guys

Going on my first holiday in our Hymer and think it would be wise to take out some holiday insurance for the two weeks around Europe.

Can anyone recommend any? Have just got back from Tesco's and they want Ģ45 for a couple (I am 39 and taking my 64 yr old mother with me). Out of interest they won't insure anyone over 64, so what happens next year.

Have heard a lot in the press recently about people trying to claim and insurance companies putting all sorts of things in miniscule print which no-one reads. i.e. you are not covered for anything being stolen from your van between the hours of 8pm and 8am. Is this a new one on you too?

Thanks for any advice.

to be honest I don't take out travel insurance for the eu, we rely on the renamed E111 - EHIC http://www.ehicard.org/?gclid=CJjBk4jpgYwCFRc-EAodU0RFvg
and have a get you home clause in our Insurance policy.
If you want cover shop around - the top age varies anything up to 75.
Only really a problem if there is an existing condition which could become critical.
imo anyway, others will probably disagree, but we have used the EHIC system satisfactorily on several occasions.

ps - not heard of a time restriction, but the insurance companies are very stringent on existing conditions - best bet is to declare everything you've ever suffered from and let them take it from there

Farrier

Search on www.thisismoney.co.uk go to insurance and see what prices you get, might be worth doing a yearly option - I got the whole family Ģ55.00 for the year and I travel a fair bit into Europe with my work, so well worth the cost.

Good luck

We always use www.direct-travel.co.uk, luckily never had to claim with them so dont know how they are on that side of things, but they are definitely the cheapest I have found.  They dont cover pre-existing conditions, but they do give you the option to pay less if you dont include personal possessions and money which are often already covered by your home insurance policy.
