Morning all
New chap on the block - about to finalise the purchase of a 1999 model. Having an inspection done - any idea's about known faults with this model. Plua good feedback would be appreciated.
Many thanks

excellent van as are most hymers, faults are dependant on how well its been looked after and who you are buying from and what level of service you get from them if a dealer. i have never known any major faults on them. we used to have an old B reg 660s hymer a couple of years back and it was fantastic. we only changed from hymer to euramobil as they did the layout we were after and are just as good for what we use it for (skiing). is this your first van? what do you intend on using it for? we know quite alot about hymers as we have plenty of friends with them and being ex owners and still owning a german van.
we are happy to help. any questions fire away and we will do our best. enjoy it and have fun

Great news.......The AA inspection went great and only a couple of minor points - washer jets and a minor water leak in the off side rear window. Not bad. The engineer is from the Poole area (where I've purchased the motorhome from) and said that the company has been around for a long time and done previously pre-purchase inspections. Always a good sign.
So - the end of the month and we'll be rolling - by the way, I've booked the sunshine to for the Bank Hoiday Weekend!!
I'd still like to hear from other owners about any quirks or advise that they can offer with this model or similar, thanks.

We bought Molly, our G Reg 654, three years ago and we've had to have the roof vents resealed as well as the rear window. Other than that, she's been a dream She had 117,000km on the clock.
We've done a lot of travelling both in the UK and Europe without a problem. I hope that you get as much pleasure out of your Hymer as we've had.

Thanks Hannah & Maureen for your positive replies.
Ok - breakdown cover, I've read thru previous posts on here and am slightly concerned as to whether I have the requirement for another breakdown service other than my current AA membership. Bearing in mind that the weight of the 644G is 3500kg. The AA tell me that their limit is 3500kg. What are your thoughts? I think I know the answer already, however I would be interested in hearing other motorhomers opinions.

We get breakdown incorporated with our insurance and for a 20ft Hymer coachbuilt I think it's about £245 per year, seems good to me - oh, that's with Caravan Guard.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

Thanks for the reply Jean
Over the past few days i've phoned quiet a few insurers and Adrian Flux has come out best for my own requirements. With reference to the breakdown/recovery cover, I have sussed out that there are no short cuts! Probably for the best, as I wouldnt want to be explaining myself to 'my other half'.
So, all set for big day! Take ourselves away for an overnight in the New Forest (ten mins drive away) and test everything out.
