I totally agree with you, we do need stronger punishments for crimes. I have been whiling away the time by trying to guess what you do to them!!!!!

By the way I notice that you have typed "lol" in your postings.  I thought is might mean lots of love but that does not always fit the comments?

Carol

Hee hee Carol yes Biker Jeff has told you right Lol is "laugh out loud". Rofl is another form of modern day text and that stands for "roll on floor laughing" ha ha which I am doing right now at you thinking it meant "lots of love" ha ha! I only know these things from my son and 2 daughters who use such language when sending me texts and over the years I have become quite knowledgeable in the computer and mobile language used by today's youngsters Lol!

As for what I do to them Carol - it varies depending on the situation but one such example was we had a young man in our shop once that stole from us and we chased after him and caught him. We took him back to the shop and all the time he was mouthing off at us and swearing and kicking up a right stink. This behaviour Carol is quite usual when you catch a shoplifter and they treat you like you are in the wrong and often they are quite abusive. Anyway, he was quite agitated to have been caught especially when we demanded payment from him for the item he stole which was £8.99. He took out his wallet and said he only had his train fare home which was £10 and no other money. He reckoned if he just gave the goods back to us then that made it ok but in my book he needed teaching a lesson so I insisted on payment for the goods. It was that or I call the police the choice was his! He bellowed "well how the f**** am I going to get f****** home as I will have no train fare left if I pay you" so I calmly pointed out that he should have thought about that before he came into my shop to steal. He was calling us all the names under the sun saying it was not on to make him pay etc and he would be left stranded with no way of getting back to Nottingham! His pleas and threats had no effect on me whatsoever and my husband kindly told him that if he preferred we could always get him a lift home in a nice police car!  Obviously, he wanted to avoid any involvement with the police, so he very begrudgingly coughed up and left our shop a very unahppy bunny! How he got home I don't know or care and in my opinion he got off lightly but I think he would think twice about stealing form our shop again as he knows we wont stand any nonsense. I have other stories to tell about some of the incidents we have been involved with but some of which I would not like to discuss quite so publicly but what I can say that if we catch them then 9 times out of 10 the culprit coughs up if they have the money on them to pay for what they stole.

You wouldn't think running a gift shop in a seaside town could be quite so eventful but believe you me Carol you would be suprised and l could write a book about some of the goings on!

She is scary

After she captures these shoplifters, she locks them in the cellar, where they live out the rest of their lives in slavery and servitude, making those twee little ornaments you get in gift shops.

Hee hee Carol I suppose when I am riled I am pretty scary lol. What's that old saying? "She makes a most excellent friend but a most terrible enemy"  well that about sums me up in a nutshell ha ha! Anyone upset my family or friends then you will see my horns come out and I will defend them to the hilt

Hey ..... now don't you go giving me ideas Biker Jeff ........... we happen to have a dark and gloomy basement at our shop and my brain is now working overtime conjuring up all manner of macabre uses for it!

Hello John

"I've built up quite a portfolio of places to stop (both UK and abroad) and I'd be interested in swapping information (off-list if necessary) with any of you who are interested. I've also got some other sources of information on wild camping spots."

I would be interested in your portfolio.  We are thinking of France in Summer and then Cornwall later in the year.
