Sooh

Hi there! Only just read your posting about motorhoming from scratch! Very reassuring, thanx. We are trying to relax and enjoy our new toy - but it is very alarming to investigate what we thought were small (cost wise) repair jobs only to find that everything is so expensive! Never mind we'll get the hang of improvising eventually!

Think you must have got the wrong idea about one thing though - and its a bit depressing to admit! We aren't youngsters just starting out on family life etc etc.We are just as broke though. Our two year old is the youngest of five children!!! The first batch are all boys - aged 16, 19, 21 and 23. I always said I wanted another when I was forty - you know what they say -"be careful what you wish for......."

Hi Tess,

I am glad you are enjoying your new toy and I hope the repair jobs become a little more manageable in the future for you.

By the way I think it is wonderful that you have got a new member of the family at the age of forty and even though you may be just as broke as you were when the others were little, I am sure that what you have in your little 2 year old is absolutely priceless and I am sure the pleasure he or she is bringing to your family far exceeds any amount of money!

What a lucky lady you are!

Sooh

Sooh

I do count my blessings, honest. We have finally managed to produce a girl - which made it a double fortieth present. People often wonder aloud whether a bunch of flowers would have sufficed!!! Isobel is thoroughly spoiled but the centre of our little world - as you say, priceless.

It does amuse me when we meet people as they are always trying to give us advance warning of the next stage she is to go through! I was warned last weekend to just wait until shes two and ahalf - by a man with a two and a half year old. I don't think he knew what to say when I said thats nothing, wait until hes 23!!!

How smug am I?

Tess x

PS Am I just easily amused or what? Just realised how many people have looked at this post to see what the message for Sooh was! Wonder what they expected to find? Bet they were dissappointed.....................

Just seen this message for me from you Tess and am delighted to hear you evenually got your little princess. My first born was a little boy and I adored him and he was my world but I longed for a little girl as I think most mums do and when I had my second baby I just couldnt believe it when the midwife announced "It's a girl" When I had my 3rd baby I wasn't too fussed which sex I had really and whatever I had, I knew I would love him or her to bits - but deep down if I am honest, I secretly hoped it would be another girl as I had so many pretty dresses and pink things left over from my daugther and when Chantelle was born with her mop of black hair I was absolutely delighted I must confess and so very very proud!

I think ALL babies are wonderful and a gift but it is an extra bonus if you manage to get a mixture of sexes in the family but if we are all honest as long as we are blessed with happy and healthy babies we are indeed very, very fortunate aren't we?

Like you say the terrible 2's are nothing compared to those troublesome teenage years are they and if you can survive them you can survive any stage!  But I tell you something I wouldn't have missed a moment of any of it (well maybe there were some times I could have done without lol) but I am dead proud of all 3 of mine and love them to bits and my 'baby' was 21 two days ago!

I love the name Isobel by the way

Sooh x
