Hi There - beginners question here.

Just stayed at a campsite that had TV hook up provided, can someone explain to me ho wthis works please. Our motorhome has its own ariel which we have had great (or awful) TV reception on depending on location and this weekend it was non existent however they gave us a list of channels available through their hook up?

Do we rent or buy an ariel lead, does it plug into the same place as out electric hook up (on site) and then how to get it to TV, through an open window? Sorry to sound really vacant but did not have a clue!!!!

Thanks in advance.

Angie

The EHU bollard will have an aerial socket which you can connect to. We use basic coax extension lead that you can get from Wilkinsons and feed it via an external locker to our TV. You can have an external point fitted to the van also or just come through a window.

These hookup / booster systems are usually found in areas of weak signal.

We have a sat system fitted but still sometimes find it easier to just hook up depending on what we want to watch.

Hi Angie,

We are quite new to this ourselves but have used a hook up for TV.

On the electric hook up point there was a socket for a TV cable you just plug a standard lead, like the ones at home, into this and then some vans have an external TV input or you just go through the window.

It's best to buy yourself a lead from B&Q etc and keep it with you

Hope this helps

Steve

Doubt very much if you have an external socket but they are dead easy to fit ,in the mean time just run it through your window

We used a TV hook up in Bath last year and it really improves the reception - at the time we had a VW so just fed the cable in through small gap in window and placed thermal screens over the gap. Now got a different van with external aerial point which makes life easier.

We hired a cable for £2 (£10 refundable deposit) as our cable was not long enough to reach where the telly had to be positioned.
