Hi David,
By coincidence I changed my Discovery for a VW Sharan 1.9TDII 110bhp 1998 s reg in April this year. Excellent car to drive, great economy and loads of space for all my camping and fishing gear.
I was very lucky. For the money I had to spend I had been looking for a 1998ish Sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra when I spotted the VW as I was passing a local garage. It had only been in a couple of days and compared to some of the Galaxy and Alhambras I had looked at it was in immaculate condition. I did a test drive immediately, checked it all over and left a deposit there and then.
Apparently, as you seem to be finding out, the TDII is not very common. Good luck with your search.
