I'm toying with the idea of getting an inverter anyone got any advise as to what power i need to say run a 15 inch lcd T.V. & boil a kettle plus how long would the leisure battery last from full to flat
You need to add up the wattages for both the TV and kettle.
Then you would need an invertor at least as big as that.
I suspect you are asking a lot of a leisure battery to boil a kettle. You would be far better using the car supply with the engine running. It seems like you've a caravan, so the easiest way is to buy a kettle for the stove.
Hi Silverwood- It may have been just the way you expressed yourself, but if you run your leisure battery flat, it will never recover when you try to recharge it, it will be ruined. keep on eye on its holding charge.
dont bother for the kettle, a large enough inverter would cost a bit, however a small one would most probably be fine for the LCD, you can get a 150W one for around £30
I was looking at something about 500w (is this too high) & i was wondering how long the battery would run as my knowledge of inverters is zilch. It's only so the management can watch telly/sky while i fish
mick i run a 15 lcd on a 150w but the kettle is a different thing.you can buy low wattage kettles that will boil enough for 2 but shop about because you can pay from £2 to £20 for the same thing

In theory
480W = 40Amps at 12V
so If you have a 80AH battery 2 Hours maximum, but it never works out quite as good as that.
I'd stick to the LCD and get a little stove to run the kettle.
