Hi Both,

You will need a continental extension, if you visit your local camping shop I am sure they will point you in the right direction.

Which part of  France are you visiting?

Hi  Mark and Shirley

When in France it is useful to have a euro plug for your hook up. Some sites run reverse polarity but I have yet to come across one on the sites and aires we have stayed at for the past 4-6 years.

there is a useful information on going to France and the rest of europe on this website under the abroad section.  Of course don't forget your beam benders, your corkscrew and to drive on the right.

If this is the case Mark and gives you any doubts best take with you a reverse polarity tester which if you search this site you can buy quite cheaply or visit your local caravan shop. Like I said mine's been in my van still in the polythine wrapper for years. But best to be sure. However

Reversed polarity only becomes a safety issue in UK 'vans because UK switches are not double-pole, as they are on the continent. A metal cased appliance that is not double insulated must have the correct UK polarity so that the plug-fuse blows properly when there is a fault in the appliance. With double insulated (often plastic bodied) appliances, not having an Earth connection, polarity is of no consequence.

We are just back after 3 months touring europe .We found quite a few places we needed to reverse polarity and we checked every time with the metre just in case .Just a little metre that plugs in with 3 lights that come on if its ok.We wouldnt risk using it if it was`nt right.

Hi Pete,

Bill has pulled the ligaments in his back, had x-rays last Friday, just waiting for the results, he's bored out of his brain, and driving me around the bend,I'll be carted off to the "funny farm" before long.
