Think that the Clubman is a 4 berth with a double in the luton where as the Gatcombe is only a two berth albeit classed as luxury.

Gatcombe is the luxury version hence the 'royal' link, but other than that I haven't a clue ;-(
best bet for Autosleeper queries is probably the as owners club http://www.asoc.fsnet.co.uk/
I understand that they are very helpful

I have a 2005 Gatcombe it's 2500tdi with double bed and a double  suitable for children above the cab,gas and electric heating and hot water, shower, foldaway sink. and 3 way fridge. Two tables small and large, Full cooker and drinks cabinet, tv cabinet, It also has stainless steele ladder and roof bars. I think the Clubman has a 2400turbo engine other than that I don't know.

Thank you all for your help. We spoke to a salesman today, he said the Gatcombe superceded the Clubman but overlapped for 2 years but there is basically not any difference. Both were available in 2 or 4 Berth. We like em, the layout is great, thanks again

Hi there

We went from a montana 4 with canopy to a vw Autosleeper clubman GL about 3 years ago and it was the best move we have ever made, and there is no difference between ours and the gatcombe we have 4 berths a 3 way fridge and so on and so on, only advice I would give if you are looking at the vw which is I feel the better base vehicle, try and get a tdi it makes all the difference. I have spoken to owners of clubmans without the turbo and they seem to struggle a bit. Best of luck!!
