Hi Guys

I have just bought a T25 1990 Westfalia and am having probs with the 3way fridge.  It works off 240V and 12V but I am having problems getting on the gas setting.

It appears that the ignition is lighting (I think!) but the ignition switch keeps sparking (clicking), also the fridge doesn't seem to get that cold.

Can anyone help with this, as I'm pulling my hair out with it now!

Sorry but i have the old type peizo ignition...that you push in....so not sure why about yours.....if the fridge isn't getting cold if you can get the fridge out of it's space....turn it upside down for a couple of hours....apparently that gives the liquid inside a ' kick up the bum'....

good luck with it M8....and enjoy your T25......

If the fridge gets cold on 12v & mains but not on gas-it aint lighting--I'm guessing yours has 3 square switches together-when you press in the gas ingnition switch it clicks continuously--there should be another button you hold in until 30 secs after the fridge lights-when the fridge lights the clicking will stop--dont try to light fridge until about 15mins after you stop driving to let it settle--also if your lesiure battery has nearly had it you wont get a good enough spark--try lighting fridge with engine running so leisure batt is delivering full voltage--but its 17 yrs old--they dont go on forever--

Still doesnt sound like its lighting! If you open the door and look at the bottom far left back you should see a small round window, you will see a flame here if it is alight (assuming it is like ours!)

With ours I have to turn knob onto the 3 flame position and keep the knob pushed in until the ignitor stops flashing.

Hope this maybe of some help.

Oh and just another thought, always ensure camper is level when using fridge as it wont work properly if it isnt! (we have been caught out with this in the past!)

I have the same prob.
I cant get it to work with gas.
On saying this, once i get a hook-up from the site it is okay.
I have an Electrolux fridge, and as we are not supposed to use gas when travelling i set the button to battery, once on site i change this to mains.
This worked for me, the clicking you hear and flashing is the safety device in case the pilot light goes out.
Are you sure the gas is turned on for the fridge? the switches are underneath, they should be in the horizontal position.
Remember it can take up to 2 hrs to reach cooling temp.
But who the hell am i? i cant even sort my one out. Cheers.

if its working on leccy, and 12V then it should work on gas, it works the same way, just uses the flame for heat rather than the heating element.

the only reason i can see is if its not lighting?

If it is the same fridge as mine, i have another button over on the right hand side, try screwing that up to max. ain't to sure if that helps.
Does your gas cooker still work?
Asking this because if you have a leak in the pipe work around the gas bott.maybe not enough pressure for the fridge, they can chew up the gas. Cheers.

Daz
Glad to hear you sorted out yer fridge.
A question?
I have never needed my gas for the fridge, i simply use my leisure batt. to do that.
It is working while i travel and charging at the same time.
So it costs me nothing.
My last camp site i could not get a hook up for a day, but my leisure batt. was enough to keep everything going.
Since then i have added another one, i have enough power to start a Jumbo jet, LOL
Still a bit miffed how my gas does not work, may have to try that remedy you did. Cheers.

Well I did wonder how long the leisure battery works for??

Also does it only charge when driving or does it charge just when the engine is switched on?? If you get me??!

Don't suppose you know about invertors??  We've just been given one and wondered if could run it off the lesiure battery of whether we would need another battery to attach it to??

I am pretty new to this game, but here goes. LOL
Your leisure batt is being charged while the van is running, when stopped the leisure batt. is being used, but when it starts to go flat it shuts down and this saves you flattening your main batt. for starting.
When you are on a hookup on a site, both batt. are getting a trickle charge from the mains supply.
Now the inverter, i think this is how they work?
They change DC to AC so this means somebody who is sitting in the back of the van while on the move could use a computer etc. from a three pin plug, just like when on a hookup.
You have to watch the size you buy, to small and you will start to blow fuse's all over the place if you have a lot of appliances attached, also they rely on you to have a good battery fully charged, they use a hell of amount of power.
You can use them from your cigarette lighter on the dash, or connect it straight to the battery, just remember to switch it off while not in use.
Very handy in a cabin cruiser while at sea.
Hope i got most of this correct? Cheers.
