Hi guys/girls, just retired and purchased a Ford transit 100 auto-sleeper,its a SW model, 2 ltr pinto engine, 5 speed box and was born in 1990.
The engine is as sound as a pound but is fitted with that mickey mouse carb. they put into it at that time.
It drinks petrol faster than i can drink beer ( and that's saying something !! )
Now the question?
I have read fitting a Weber carb. would help a lot, anybody with knowledge in this conversion? such as single or twin choke, the size i would need, auto. or manual choke, would i need a diff manifold.
I am to old for converting it to diesel so that is out.
Any help would be great. Cheers.

I have seen carbs. for sale on Ebay, one was off a pinto engine, supposed to be off a 2 ltr engine the same as my one, jetted to suit. Still don't know if i need a diff. inlet manifold.
I don't want to make things worse, if i knew exactly what i needed i could visit a scrap yard, but they have started to charge you half price on a new one !!
I can wield a spanner so no prob. there. Thanks for the input.

Well the guy i purchased the van from is a mechanic, he told me it was simply not worth the hassle.
Its not just a case of tearing out the pinto lump and stuff in a diesel, a whole lot of other things come into play.
He did state a TDI was the way to go, but as i will only use it off and on for 4 month of the year it would not justify the cost.
He stated a Weber carb was the way to go, i have purchased one off ebay, this is jetted for a pinto 2lt, plus it came with a new manual choke if i needed it.
Was speaking to a friend, he had a manifold in his shed, so i got that for nothing.
Anything must be better than that VV carb that is on it. Cheers.
