I am thinking of buying the Khyam Motordrome family classic driveaway awning, gosh that's a mouth full. I have seen it on the net, it looks like a normal daytent but with the side zipped out and a bedroom pod fitted, which means you have the full size of the main body as living space. I believe this is new to 2007 has anyone actually seen one? or has one? would love to hear your views.
I have the movelite but with the bed pod in place no room for anything else.
we bought a khyam motordome excelsior last week and its not tall enough for our van and thats the biggest you can buy!!! unfortunately it will be going on e bay soon it was very easy to put up though and looked brilliant quality....i would certainly recommend them but do check your van heights first!
Hiya Lunnie , if you look through the thread pages there is a family size one on there with pic's and reviews . Might be worth another look on page 3 of the thread
Did look at the piccies, and the motordome with the bedroom pod which is outside the day room area is that I would like, but he didnt seem too impressed.
i think it is exclusive to camperlands. It's not even on khyams website! I came across it the other day as we are looking for a drive away awning for our t25 and we have 3 kids.
It looks exactly like the xl classic tent but with the tunnel to attach to the van.
I am going to keep checking to see if they get anymore in stock.
Well we have the motordome family and we love it! This is the sixth awning we've owned in three years and this one is staying - it's great.
I really like the feel of it, it's very khyam - kind of clunky but well done if you get what I mean. The sides open out more than the normal motordome awning and the side with the J door is very well thought out.
The living space is not massive with the bedroom in but we could fit three of us on chairs and the kitchen clobber (will take our kitchen tent next time, then should be perfect).
I think the main difference between this and other awnings is that it is very tent like, and as we started out as tent campers I think thats whats been missing in the elusive (up till now) search for the perfect awning. The gusset clips away to the awning so tidily you could use it as a tent (it's basically a khyam xl cassic) on sites that don't take campervans for best of both worlds
Only downside is the price and availability as they have been specially made for campershop.
