If you buy new you loose value as soon as you drive from dealers, vat etc, plus any build faults. Buy second hand you should not loose as much plus any build faults should be sorted.

John.

From what I can see there are a whole host of really good hardly used vans on the market that as John has said have already taken a hit due to VAT etc, so I reckon you would get a better deal on a nearly new van for sure.

we would never by a new one as posted previously let someone else find the faults for you....we would also always have an a class. we did have a c class but found the overcab bed a little small (it was a very large 7 berth) and also hated the wasted space in the cab when parked up....the drop down beds are soooo comfy and can be folded away allowing you to swivel the drivers and passenger seats in most cases into the lounge....a much better use of space in my opinion. for 30k you should get something very good with low mileage and of a very reasonable age

Buy secondhand every time. As far as I can see, the only possible advantage of buying new is the "look what I can afford" moment which once you drive it off the forecourt costs you dearly. Save the money, get a higher spec second hand one and if you want to impress the easily impressible- stick a personal plate on it.

OR

Look at what you can afford in new vans, and buy an identical second-hand one (or even new from Belgium) and with the possible savings (if you do your homework) and buy a nice car with the savings.

Yes, but don't forget that motorhomes / motorcampers are the lowest depreciating vehicles on the road...........
