We are going to buy a used Auto Sleeper Duetto when we find the right one. Can anyone advise us on the relative merits of 'dashboard air conditioning' and 'living space air conditioning' in a vehicle this size. We plan to use the vehicle initially in GB and eventually abroad. Does dashboard ac work well in a vehicle without a separate cab for example?, is it worth the extra cost ? are we likely to want to sit in the vehicle with all the doors and windows shut for the ac to work ? We are aware that living space ac can be retro fitted but can dashboard ac be retro fitted on a fairly new Transit based vehicle?.

i cannot answer your specific questions i'm afraid, however i can recommend aircon in the living area....as you said during the day are you likely to sit in the van with all doors and windows closed on a gorgeous day just to benefit the air con?......probably not, however, in the evening its a different matter....having doors and windows open at night attracts flys and other creatures and would you want to leave your windows open whilst sleeping? we use our aircon at night to cool the van down before sleeping and it has often been a godsend especially with hot irritable children....they can be quite noisy and can obviously only be used on hookup but having it on for ten minutes before bed is great
