Nationwide for the free cash withdrawals, just double check they haven't changed their terms and conditions.  Can you leave a relative with a letter of authority for any bills that might need paying or querying?  If you can, just shout and I will email you across a pro forma that should suffice for most companies.

Why not set up Direct Debits to pay your bills?  That way you know they've been paid and doesn't cost you anything.  You can always cancel the DDs once you're back in UK.

Sorry, was assuming all that could be direct debited would be, and that the mandates would be used for ad hoc bills or anything you didn't want on DD.  The mandates would only be used if there were queries on any of your bills/accounts because of course anybody can pay a bill using the bank giro credit or with a cheque.

cheers all...i do pay all my bills on s/o's but the odd other one does crop up.
