To be honest that's like saying is this bit of string any good. It all depends on what your going to be using your panel for. Obviously the bigger the better and expect to pay around £3 a watt.

we wouldn't be without ours - 85W panel and 2 batteries means we don't have to worry about flattening batteries with our level of usage.

I understand what you are saying about cost quality etc, I was trying to find out from people who had them fitted, do they think it was worth the cost and do the panels actually keep the batteries charged.

Our Hymer has two 80 watt panels on top, we only have one 85amp gel battery and can easily spend a week without hookup using lights, water pump, radio and a bit of heater in the evenings.

They were already fitted when we got it so looked at them as a bit of a bonus

I have 2x 40w panels. I also have 400A plus of battery capacity. I run a Waeco 12vDC compressor fridge, charge batteries for laptop, cameras, flashguns etc. My lighting is 12vDC florescent tubes and small spotlights.  I find that with a move every four to five days that I have never had any power problems and I always "wild camp".

Yes, I'd say definitely go for panels. The new ones will even track the sun thus making sure that the panel is always at the optimum angle of efficiency-at a price
