Just brought this new MH but no TV ariel fitted the ariel wire is rolled up inside one of the floor cupboards so do we fix an ariel to the van or rig up a pole and ariel.
I've had omni's on four previous vans, and they are always hit & miss. With Digital they are even worse. I wouldnt even have one fitted on my new van, even though i was offered one thrown in with the deal.
Why would you want to drill big holes in the roof of a new van, risking water ingress at sometime in the future, for an ariel that doesnt work half the time.
Biker Jeff. Sorry you've had such bad experiences with omi ariels but ours has been totally different. We use our omni with digital and have never had a problem in 4 years, we would have one fitted to a new van. It's all a matter of choice at the end of the day.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
We had a Status fitted to our van 12 months ago. Regretted it ever since, if your not in open space it's next to useless. Now use a wide band high gain ariel on a pole
I was at a campsite at Brixham last month, and all the vans on the site had ariels on a pole, even the ones with Status Omni ariels fitted. In fact a guy next to me in a VW T4 Autosleeper was complaining that he couldnt even get anologue TV with his omni, so he went into Torquay and bought a pole & ariel like everyone else.
The only vans that didnt need a pole & ariel, were the vans with Sat Dishes and vans with unidirectional ariels that extend and turn towards the transmitter.
Each to their own I know BUT....... sad people going on holiday to the coast or countryside and then watching TV... get outside, enjoy the world, read a book, go to bed , get up early and hear the dawn chorus etc. No TV in my van!
