I have just bought a Talbot Autosleeper, and oldie but just what I want, a doer upper.

Does anyone know which drive away awning / tent is best suited to fit this campervan since it is a bit out if date compared to the newer vans?

Regards

Peter

We have a MotorVilla awning & when we had the Compass Drifter 410 MH, we hooked it up to the "J" rail as per normal, disconnecting it to drive away. Now we have an Autosleeper Exec. with a Fiamma veranda, which means we can't attach it to the MH, so the awning now is put up as a free standing. No probs.

Have a look at the Khyam Motordome Excelsior. It is designed for longer, taller campervans such as yours. They attach via the gutter on your van using a 'figure of 8' connecting strip (included).

We have got the Motordome Tourer for our VW camper and it has been a brilliant piece of kit. Only takes 5 mins to pitch when you get used to it Check out the picture in my gallery.

We have the big movelite drive away awning.  It is really big and great for storing stuff.  It was a god send this year with the really bad rain.  We originally brought one for the daughter and her boyfriend to sleep in but the twice they were with us the weather was OK and they put the pup tent up.

Once you have pitched and striked the awning once it is easy.

We considered the larger of the two movelite, in fact we considered buying both as they were very reasonably priced. but they seemed rather flimsy. Besides it is that big, we would struggle sometimes to pitch it (space wise) as we only use CLs. Hence the reason for getting them both. At the time of considering this awning, I asked on the forum if anyone had one & any info on them, but didn't get a responce.

Do you erect yours each time you go away, or just for extra sleeping space? & you seem happy with it, but how long to fully erect it & is it rigid when left free-standing.

Cheers

BeeJay
