Hello !

Wonder if any1 had any ideas,& pictures of a home made bunkbed!  we have a fiat Ducato, hobby motorhome,  its got a fixed double bed at the back and wanted to make a bunkbed above it for my daughter!  shes 1 year old and weighs next to nothing !   i have a spare mattress of her cot to use, and then wanted to put a side up, so she didnt fall out !

Also i wanted to remove it,  dont want it there all the time, and also dont relly want to be drilling holes,    above the double bed we have cupboards, all the way around sides, back and sides again,  so thought of using the cupboards!!!

Used one of these once to make a bunk above a bed, but don't see how you can do it without drilling holes unless you can master the art of levitation LOL

It can be done by Sikaflexing uprights to the wall of the van and using them to support the bunk bed.

Have a look at the Self Build Motor Caravanners SBMCC Plenty of them have done just what you want to have a go at.

I was looking at converting our Rapido, got a quote from the followiing, never used the guy, so not sure what quality of workmanship is like, but he sounded like he knew what he was doing. (looking at other options now)

After our son outgrew the JK cab bunk (Aircooled Mick's link), we got a bed out of a HGV.

It's basically a pair of steel (?) lengths with a padded hammock between.  At 6' long it fits perfectly between the roof lockers in our high top VW.  Husband made some brackets to support.  The side by the window is fixed, then the other side lifts off the brackets and is secured against the side of the bus with thick elastic when travelling.

The 10 year old hasn't got a lot of head room, but obviously with a bus as small as ours, we don't have a lot of options

If I ever figure out how to post pictures, I'll show you!
