I would suspect Ebay would be a good place to start

There are self contained units that do the lot.

For me If theres something on that I really have to see while Im away then I have a 50cm dish i bought in the US. Its fixed to a pole with the elevation pretty much set to my van. I have a small pole with three big suckers that stick to the side of the van and either using the sun or a compass I find due south, connect up the signal meter I got from ebay for a tenner and swing the dish east untill I hit a decent signal which is usually Hotbird and a few degrees more east and you will find the Astra Satellite, again a whopping signal.

The cheapest way is to buy a dish off eBay and take your Sky box from home. I mount my dish on an old camera tripod (car boot)

You will need a compass to point it to 141deg(and sometimes a satellite finder) in order to set it up.

For the first time you may well get very frustrated, but by the third time it should only take about 3 minutes to set up.

Good pictures are no problem, because you either get good ones or none at all

Don't forget you can take your existing sky card instead and then get the other channels you pay for, such as sports and movies.

You could use a separate box with this card, but you have to register over the phone every time you change boxes.

Go and have a look at the Maplins store on line, they are selling a portable satellite system in a suitcase, it comes with eveything you need, ie. you don't have to buy any extras unless you wish to do so, its brand new, comes with the relevant warranty (which you will not get if you buy anything off ebay!!!! unless its from a dealer) at the moment the cost is £69.99, i have actually seen the item work on a caravan next to me, and i must admit i was rather impressed by the product. I think i will put it on my wish list for my 60th. next month!!!

I bought mine a couple of years ago from Lidl for £55. It comes in a plastic suitcase and has a 240/12 volt box and acompass attachment for the sat dish that enables you to point it in the right direction for whichever satallite you are searching in whatever country.

I have used it in central France and got around 100 freeview channels including all the BBC and ITV regional programmes - My wife was able to watch Emmerdale every night in Auverne!
