THis is available from the shop here

http://www.campershop.co.uk/awnings.htm

It looks great if in bad weather you are going for quite a period of time away. But does anyone have experience of this enlarged version of the khyam awning ???

Hi we have only just bought it. We have pitched it and it is great.(not had a chance to stay away in it yet). I am already a huge fan of the khyam qe tents which is why we choose the family sleepover(we already have the xxl classic) We are a family of 5 and needed the extra sleeping area that this provides.

If you have seen the xl classic it is the same footprint just with the addition of the tunnel attachment to the van. Which means we will have slighty more living room than we have with our tent when it is attached.

The awning is very well made, you can roll back the j door further than it does on my tent and the canopy door and the door to the tunnel can be rolled up for great ventilation in hot weather. (both the tunnel door and canopy door have flyscreens that can be left down to keep out the bugs!)

The light blue colour means it is lighter inside than our green xxl. Which will be great on gloomy days but not so great in the mornings if the sun is out!

The best way to attach awning to T2/T25 VWs is pole in the gutter--the pole will come with awning, it slides thru tube in edge of awning--sits in gutter with clamp each end--

Well having just spent a great weekend down at River Dart country Park I can report the the Khyam is fantastic.
There was someone there with a motordomwe. But the new one is much more roomy. The one we have will happily sleep 4 people . we fixed it with a figure of eight to out type 2 ... but i must say i suspect a pole fitting would be f better.
It is a drive away awning.
Wonderful ... and it all went back in the bag as the bags are roomy and generous.

I have just purchased one of these awnings from Somerset camping http://www.somersetcamping.co.uk/res/141/ and they were the cheapest online I have found for buying new, plus they include FREE next day delivery too. I needed one to fit a high motorhome so needed the Khyam motordome excelsior model but for anyone looking for a Khyam motordome to fit a camper or smaller motorhome then there are a couple of used ones for sale on ebay at the moment which look a good buy. Here is a link to both the eBay listings I found http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5232-2978-1/1?AID=9479574&PID=1428744&mpre=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/khyam-motordome-awning_W0QQitemZ300221779579QQcmdZViewItem

or http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5232-2978-1/1?AID=9479574&PID=1428744&mpre=http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Khyam-Motordome-Classic-Awning_W0QQitemZ180238686303QQcmdZViewItem

Our Motordome arrived today and my husband had a test run with putting it up in the garden and to erect it and take it down it took 20 mins in total (but that was without pegging it down) not bad for a 1st attempt and a lot less time consuming that our last driveaway awning that's for sure.

we've just come back from our first night with our new family khyam.  it's fab, it's a great size, we could put things away in the bedrooms and we still have a large tidy area to sit in.  it makes a tremendous ensuite!

it fitted to the van very well too.  we also had the new awning groundsheet which was fab- it's about time that they sorted this out and we are very impressed- this should lead to less wet feet between the awning and the van.

can't wait to go again

oh- couldn't get it back as small as when it was first packed up!! can you ever???

It's good to hear that you have both had successful first trips. We still haven't had a chance to use ours yet! We were supposed to go last bank holiday weekend, but the site had to cancel us due to flooded pitches and all the other sites i tried were full.

I'm sure we will use ours soon.

We're just back from our second trip with ours.

It is so easy to put up and attatch to the van (we have a Mazda Bongo) and not too bad to put away, the bag is very generous and we can get the additional ground sheet in too. However, the first time we tried to put it up is was very windy and a complete nightmare - I wouldn't attempt it again in a stiff breeze!

Don't forget to take a little hacksaw when you put it up for the first time if you are using a figure of 8 attatchment as you may need to trim it for a perfect fit!

Can I just repeat that the version we have sleeps $ .. This makes it much more versatile and is sold at this web site

http://www.campershop.co.uk/awnings.htm

BRILLIANT and better that that sold on the Khyam website ...

If you have a VW .. then use a pole and clamp attachment .... much the better option
