Hi all,

Ok so in July this year I am racing in Lemans for the 24hr Karting Endurance. Basically im looking to hire a motorhome or campervan for me and my g/f. Because of money being tight etc we decided to make this our holiday too and go a couple of days early and stop at a site in France for a couple of days.

So far I think the cheapest I have found is £550. Put simply I cant afford this. I'm 24 and have 3 points which isn't bad when you think about it but this and the fact we are going to France in summer is pushing the price up loads I have searched all the hire companies I can find on the net and they all are simply out of our price range.

So im trying to find a good resource where people with private motor homes or campers hire them out. All I want is a modest, clean vechile for 2 of us that has a shower. I'm 24 and have 3 points which isn't bad when you think about it but this and the fact we are going to France in summer is pushing the price up loads.

Can anyone either point me in the direction of a good site where people hire out homes privately (no middle man) or would anyone here consider hiring theres out? Orginally I had a figure of about £250 in mind not becuase I thought this was reasonable but its all I can afford. So do i have a chance or do I simply not have a prayer?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give

Not a hope from the prices I have seen!  Off peak you are looking at a minimum of £350 let alone July.

Hi again, I am interested in a Wildax Conversion and I see on their site they have 2 for hire.  However, they are talking £350 per week off season so I reckon you are going to be looking at at least £700 in July, possibly more than £1,000.  I have checked the prices in recent years at various places as we did consider it ourselves but because of insurance and dishonest peeps it isn't a cheap exercise any more.

Welcome to UKCS btw, just twigged you are a new poster, sorry about that.

Sorry to say that you will struggle to hire a motorhome for £250.

I've heard about people who hire their motorhome out when they are not using it, but i don't know much about we have just had the poster put on our windscreen when we were at the NEC.

  hope this helps, good luck!

welcome to UKCS

Try here  http://www.hirebuddies.com/ or have a look on Ebay as you sometimes see people renting out their own Motorhomes.

Build your own - I did because I couldn't afford what the manufacturers and converters wanted

Thanks for all of your responses. Put simply I think its out of our budget unfortunatly. So it will mean travelling with the rest of the team in a van and taking a tent. Not the end of the world and I dont mind camping but at least i have looked into it.

Cheers
