Let us say hello to begin with, we are new members. Its with relief that we arrived into our 50s and being lucky have managed to scrape through life fairly well. When we got into our 40s we had a brain wave and moved to Spain where weve been for almost 10 years, Its a good life but were both still working as hard as we did in the UK, maybe even harder, but the advantages are better, great weather, little crime and relatively lower cost of living. BUT !...... On the verge of another brain wave, weve chatted about living long term in a motorhome and moving about a bit. Its not going to happen yet, I like to research it before we do it. Learn by others experiences. Thats why were here. Is the idea insane, have others been and done it. We used to be great caravaners in the UK but not for the past 15 years. We loved the freedom and getting away from the rat race, it was great for kids. Now the kids have bolted we fancy doing it on our own. Maybe its rose tinted glasses. What do you think ?

Hello Again,

On the subject of long term life in a motorhome I thought I would look into the types available. Obviously I tried the internet and like the look of the Elddis range, having had an elddis caravan in the 90s. A new model was not going to be cheap, at todays prices about £25000-£30000, Lucky I have time to save up.

As were already in Europe I thought it a good idea to see if they supplied motorhomes in LHD as the majority of use would be there. I contacted Elddis in the Netherlands and received a very blut negative one line reply, No hello, goodbye or kiss my ..... What ever happened to customer service ?. Eldiss as a company need to wake up.

Can anyone advise on make of quality LHD motorhome available in Europe, one that has spares and service centres and dare I say an interest in customer service. No alot to ask.

Thanks

The best place to buy a second hand motor home is Germany or it was until the arse fell out of the pound against the euro, but still you can try go on the net and look at the dealer sites and work out the cost against one in UK see if it worth going over there. As for living in a M/H i spent 7 month in France Spain and Portugal , i found it a great way to live unfortunately last year i got a med problem and could only spend 2 months in France, it's all fixed now and I'm of again in April for a long time this time . I like you lived in Spain for 7 years when i was in my forties i wished i had never come back to UK , If there is any thing else you want to know about living in a motor home email me. stowit at hotmail .co.uk

function PrivoxyWindowOpen(a, b, c){return(window.open(a, b, c));} If you are thinking of full timing then as others have said this has been covered a lot recently.

One thing to remember would be that on this occasion Size does matter. You will need adequate space for storage and long term living. Many people full time and there is even a web site dedicated to full timers. Personaly myself I would like to live about 4-6 months a year in a MH and the rest at home whereby I can have a nice bath and use a real toilet!! function SWGuardianWindowOpen(){return(null);}
