for those that don't already no this ...check with your commercial dealer how old your base vehicle is  . mine is five months old .   you need to take your log book to the garage and they will get in touch with the  vehicle manufacturer to  get you warranty extended from date registered...  hope this helps  ...

I would have thought if you bought a new motorhome that had been supplied through a uk dealer this wouldent be an issue-the base vehicles warranty should run 3 yrs from the day you bought it--particularly if it was from one of the major UK motorhome builders--I would expect the same to apply to a European built m/h supplied thru the official importer---the only way you might have problems was if you bought the m/h new on the continent & imported & registered it yourself--but you shouldnt because vehicle warranties apply by law thruout Europe--If what you say is correct after spending £30 odd k on a new m/h I would expect the dealer to do that as a matter of course or there would be hell to pay--

So are you saying your dealer took your van to the Fiat dealer for a PDI & didnt bother to get the warranty updated(despite knowing about)didnt tell you about it & left you to find out about it by accident, how can it be not your motorhome dealer's fault?----looks like he nearly done you out of 5 months of your warranty--it appears Fiat regard the base vehicle as 'new' when it is delivered to the m/h manufacturer not when delivered to the m/h customer--clearly the fault of the dealer--

I have heard the same thing with a Burstner vehicle, Fiat only say it is from when the cab was delviered, which is correct for them. but the manufacturer should get the details updated.

I bet a lot of people are un aware of this, and as you say are being diddled out of their warranty, not in issue when new, but you can bet something will go wrong when you expect it to be covered, only to find it is not.

I will contact Hayes and get them to find that out for my vehicle, it is in manufacture at present. ... or it should be

We're in the process of buying a new m/h,17 spoke to the dealer today to enquire if there was any news on the arrival date and was told 14 days, then it's got to go to Fords at Derby to be registered with them, so I imagine that's when the warranty will start.

Just been informed that our new MH is nearly finished, a few bit missing so not able to ship to Hayes as yet, should hopefully be getting it in about 2- 3 weeks - same time as you Country_Boy

Means will not get it in time for the kids Easter holidays.

There are of course two ages.

The age the base vehicle was constructed and the age the MH was added to it.

The base vehicle can be many months older than the MH.

However if the mileage is close to zero and the van is first registered when you purchase it does it really matter?

The only time it would matter to me is if there had been a recent face lift and the base vehicle was pre-face lift.

Could the MH be older if the dealers had it in as a display model, but never been on the road.
