Hi folks,

Can anyone reccommend an awning for a motorhome. My motorhome is a Swift Royale 610 Lux and is fitted with a Fiamma F45 plus wind out canopy which measures 4 metres wide. The problem I have is that I don't really want to pay the type of money that Fiamma want for a privacy room that fits to this.

Has anyone got any tips or suggestions for a decent porch for up to £300 max?

Regards

Nigel

Can't suggest make but I did see one MH with a freestanding awnign and they rolled the Fiamma ove it so awning did not need to be attached to the MH.  Thought  it was a good idea as don't get wet but also don't have to attach awning to MH.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.

The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

Advantage of seperate awning is that you can put it up and take down in the dry if raining.

Nigel

I suppose it all depends on what you've really got in mind?

A traditional,heavy,"proper" type awning?..or the more modern, lightweight,cheaper type,for occasional use?

I would recommend something like an OutdoorRevolution EasiPorch, which falls into the latter type. We've used ours' for a few years with no problems, easy to put up (and you can roll the whole front up when you don't need it  fully enclosed) ...I think it was around £80+ when we bought it but I think it's been updated since though.

There are quite a few decent lightweight porches about now..Someone on here was looking at one by Sunnncamp(..which looked a better design than our EasiPorch becuase it also had a side door!)

This one: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.riverswayleisure.com/acatalog/info_768135.html

I did fix an awning rail to our previous MH,bolted on the underside of the Fiamma awning assembly on ,I know that the Fiamma has an awning groove on the outer edge but I wasn't confident as to whether it would be up to the task of tensioning an awning off,as it is only really meant to support blocker panels(..the Fiamma is after all, only locked back into place by small luggs).

Obviously your height requirements(clearance for habitationn door etc) needs keeping an eye on.

Hope some of my waffle helps..

Chris

Having said all of that...if was was to start again,I think I'd just go for a decent day room/utility type tent!

Like this: http://www.caseyscamping.com/acatalog/info_sunncamp_dayroom.html

as mentioned in an earlier post, you could just wind the Fiamma out to bridge any gap..

...and it could be used at home for bbqs etc...

I have been looking at the Outdoor Revolution Movelite XL Driveaway awning.

You can get a Fiamma fixing kit that goes onto the windout awning for about £20 too so brand new will be around £200.

A lot of people sell them off after a few uses or a year as they don't get used that much on motorhomes compared to caravan awnings.

Depends if you stay somewhere and it makes it worthwhile to put up an external awning.

In 9 days away this year I've not even wound out my Fiamma Zip yet so am holding off on a driveaway.

Yeah, fully agree with about checking in the second hand ads...

(..We sold our Movelite driveaway, without having used it in anger.. )

We even try not to use the porch awning now as,in my mind, the whole idea of getting the MH was to get away from putting up/ taking down/packing away and drying out,tents!(..so we don't see the point in wrestling with an awning unless we really need to... )

Chris
