We don't have a motorhome, but I've seen all sorts of things used ... fire bucket, number plate on a stake, wind-breaks, orange tape pegged around the pitch, the levelling ramps left in place, a couple of patio chairs - I could go on!
I just printed out a picture of my motorhome and my registration on A4 and sealed it in a plastic wallet. This can then be pegged to something on the pitch ir pegged to the UHU cable which I usually also leave.
I left mine once and when I came back some thieveing toerag had pinched my nice 25 metre cable and left me a 20 metre one with one plug that didn't fasten properly.
But if you do, make sure that it is unplugged from the EHU point, for obvious safety reasons.

Don't leave your EHU cable.
