Not sure what you mean marie.

Do you mean to pitch your tent or to sleep in the car/van?  If the later, you would do better and probably get more peace if you stopped at a lay by outside town.

Hi marie

I have heared that you can park in some of the large supermarket car park's if you ask the manager, have not done it my self don't think you would get much sleep if it was a 24h one.

You can stay in some over night council car park's, or ask a local pub, if you have a drink there or some food the land lord might let you stay the night in the car park good luck and let us know how you got on as I have thought of this after seeing it mentioned on a wild camping site.

Sorry I was confused there by your profile marie.  It doesn't mention your motorhome and I just read in another thread that you have one.

I don't know the area well enough to suggest a site but with a motorhome I would approach over the smallest road through the most unpopulated part of the North York Moors.  I would be very disappointed not to find a spot that would put any camp site to shame.

Watch out for height barriers and No Overnight Camping signs.  Apart from that, and remembering to leave no trace, I see the rest as fair game.  We are obliged not to drive while tierd, how could anyone possibly object?

If you don't find anything, you can always drive on to Tescos.  I would think that arriving late you could find somewhere quieter than tescos though.  The pub idea works well but you should consider that if extremely unlucky, you could be on dodgy ground re alcohol and the vehicle.

bit confused with this - you are going from sheffield to scarborough and want to stay overnite before getting on the site ? Why not just set off from home in the morning after having a worry free sleep ? most sites wont let you on before noon anyway . it will only take you 2 hours to get there

Scarborough council very keen with by laws not many places to wild camp ,look at notices in car park if there's 24hr parking and no mention of sleeping and cooking then go for it .

We stayed at Scarborough.

On the seafront just above the amusement park you'll see the parking bays and there is a curved area that is really deep and ample for Motorhome parking.

Easy walking distance into town (and I don't like walking far). Amusements and toilets just around the corner.

If you want it quieter just drive further North up the bay.

The costs are £6 for 24 hour parking. We were parked up when the QE2 came up last year.

GREAT.

Enjoy your visit.

June

Head for Marine drive after the habour it follows on to Royal Albert drive loads of camper vans use it to stay overnight, there also a few like cut outs that you can reverse into, and a great view facing the sea.

Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
