I have recently purchased a Mazda Bongo with auto rising roof . It has not been converted into a camper so we have bought a traveller tent/annex which attaches to the side.
The problem is, because I have always had a large motorhome I am unsure of what category this would come under when booking a campsite. for instance. the motorhome shows give cost for average sized motorhome, the bongo with annex looks more like a car and tent. campsite pricing is the same, but if it is classed as a motorhome or camper and not a car and tent, I will be charged for an awning. Does anyone have an answer to my bongos identity crisis?and will it be welcome on sites where no tents are allowed?

I'm in the same position. Last year we camped with a tent and bongo and went with the car/tent option but now we have an awning. So far we have only used a site that was per pitch regardless of what unit so I guess the best option is to ask when booking. I'd rather be with the tents than the vans personally, I'm not keen on hardstanding pitches.
Some sites take the classification very seriously, it must be converted etc but we've never been refused anywhere yet!
Thank you so much, you have been very helpful. I have also joined BONGO FURY thanks again for this advice The site is great and I have already purchased several things from them for the Bongo, which needs a lot done to it (if I can find someone to do it that is) and it's great, so hope to meet some of you at their events.

thanks for the reassurance. I am looking forward to it, but a bit worried about being under canvas at our age ! do you think it would be a problem if we brought a folding caravan to the bongo bash ? Really disappointed that we were too late to get hook up, but hopefully we will manage
