if not theres two micro switches that fail ,one under the flusher (so it flushes) one in the space where the cassette goes (so it doesnt flush when the cassette is out) the second one is fiddly to replace but not impossible for anyone who can drive a screwdiver
hmm re reading your post ,the main water system doesnt go to your bog its a seperate tank
unless things have changed since 1989 if it makes a noise like its pumping its out of water
