You will be fine!

Even if things go wrong (which they will not!) a nice man will come and rescue you!

Enjoy it Jax,once you have completed this trip there will be no stopping you!

Good luck, make sure you have plenty of booze on board and let us know how it goes!

Val

repeat after me... you will be fine... LOL!

I know if things go wrong I can deal with it.
I have fixed so many things on this van I know how to do lots of things I never imagined I would - I can even make sense of a Haynes manual - not bad for a girlie!
Have packed bottle of wine, bottle of port and some lemonade. Not really a big drinker, things left over from Xmas!
I will not get lost. I can read a map and I have a satnav.

I'm now down to 30 miles then stop on the anxiety level! LOL! I daren't even play music, I'm keeping an ear on the engine most of the time. Perhaps this long long trip will cure me of that, eh?

Thanks to everyone for the good advice. Am just checking out the relay thing for extra piece of mind.

So no worries!

I'm keeping a journal and taking my camera, so I'll put up a web page or two when I return!

Hi, check oil and water levels before setting off, and every morning before you start your engine. Perhaps take a litre of oil with you for topping up, easier than finding some on the islands. And have fun , it'll be great.

Yes, have oil on board. And antifreeze! Will do the checks as well, it's a long way.

Yes Mick, I'm hoping to make it all the way home as well! Only 1000 miles altogether approx.

Aww you should have came up the west coast and stopped at Loch Lomond. I would have put the kettle on (or opened a bottle) Lobey and Mrs Lobey would have came over as well.

Maybe another time

We also have a Beford Rascal, ours is the Autohomes Bambi.
1989, 39000 miles.
Last year Bambi took us to the Costa Blanca via the bridge at Millau. Our return trip was through the central area of Spain and, into the Pyrenees.
We were away three months with no problems other than a puncture and a loose plug lead.
I carry, spare fan belt,plugs,condenser and points.(and WD 40)
The van did not hesitate on any of the long, high climbs during the trip of 4200 miles.

We are just back from Yorkshire and Derbyshire Dales. There are some large climbs there too.

We are off to Brittany end of June to see the Tour de France,or, the first few days anyway. Then into Normandy.Three weeks this time.

Just check over your van before you start up each day.Don't fix anything that aint broke.

On two way roads I never indicate that it is clear for following traffic to pass.I pull in the first chance I get to allow those following to pass.

I have done 200 miles in one day. That is just mad.75/100 miles is about average. We stop when something takes our eye, however many miles we have done.
Get on the road and enjoy every minute. You'r a long time dead.

Awww thanks, Vivall!

I've got a spare fan belt and WD40 but not plugs, points and condenser (whatever that is!). Just hope the AA man has those bits then, eh?
I'm going to be doing 150 miles the first two days, then 90 miles, then running about on Western Isles and Skye, then the whole thing back again. I agree, 100 miles is enough in a day, but I'll never get there! I just chopped the journey into roughly three and found campste for overnighting.

thanks for the boosts of confidence, everyone, just great!

Cathy mac - I'll definately take up that offer sometime later in the year!

If you're going to Auchterarder take a small diversion on the back road to Dunning.

The pub, which I think is called the Kirk Stile does a great curry night and decent ale...

I'm back!!!!!

1,200 miles and 20 days later, I've finally come home!

Very tired, but was worth every minute! Horgabost beach on Harris is amazing! Had a good, if very tiring, time!

I'm glad I went, but I won't be going that far again!! It's too much for my back! Too many days of travelling up and back... I've decided that a week to 10 days including stopovers is enough in future. Still you have to do it to find that out, eh?

Daisy the campervan behaved perfectly, no probs whatsoever, so that was good.

Back later with some photos, very tired at the mo.

Thanks to all who helped me and gave me the courage - I couldn't have done it without you!
