I have my campervan (VW T25 Transporter) with an electrical hookup fitted by myself back in 2003, My problem is teh test button on the RCD wont trip the circuit which would indicate an safety problem? I have double checked all the connections and found all the wiring (especially the earth!) to be correct. The RCD used to trip ok so I am wondering whether the unit is faulty or do I need to use an external earth spike?
Any thoughts please?

rig up an external earth spike and short something to see if it will trip.
If not change the rcd .

It may be faulty , but it could be its an ELCB not an RCD, it should be an RCD nowadays, as delboy says may need an earth spike, but if is ELCB, should be replaced,

i am always weary of electrics so if it was mine i would get it checked out by an auto electrician for my own peace of mind .
That way you know everything is A O K
