Hi,
We have had our 'van since Dec and been enjoying our trips away. We noticed a few weeks ago the smell of gas in the cabin. After a bit of examination in the gas storage cab I noticed the rubber pipe had perished. BUT it had perished on the end connected to the gas line and on the side not visible by just looking at the pipe. Only by taking the pipe off the gas line and bottle could I see that it had perished.
The gas supply has been working fine but when the gas was on (while cooking) it was also escaping. We were on propane so I do not think we could have been gassed and I always turn the gas off at night.
When I checked the rubber pipe it had the date of "08/2007" on it.
I suppose technically the dealer I bought the van off should have replaced the rubber pipe but I have learnt my lesson so to speak.
Take 2 mins and check the date on your rubber pipe. I bought a replacement pipe for £3.00 and all is fine, re-used the old rubber to protect the gas line as I noticed the gas canistor rests against it when in the cab (don't want a broken gas line).
