Just wondering if anyone has used a portable air conditioning unit in their motorhome.

If yes, any problems with ehu etc

Have had a look round Argos, B&Q etc.

Don't have a problem with the weight, more if anyone has tried them in their van.

If any problems with ehu and are they worth it

Sorry this does not answer your question but for consideration we took one of the much cheaper "evaporative" type air coolers to France and it worked very well. I made hidden brackets for safe travel. It is very light when empty, uses very low power for the fan and has a remote control "zapper". used with bagged ice bought in supermarkets it did the job for us. Obviously not as good as a proper air-conditioning unit though. This one was a gift but I think they cost about £70. I was originally going the same route as you but being a gift it was definately worth trying. We only needed to cool the van once a day pre-bed time after following Tour de France. I was going to fit the aircon exhaust in the bottom of the gas cupboard floor with coupling through the cupbaord wall to the aircon unit in the living space. An extension under the van ducts away hot air. Didn't need all this with just the cooler unit.

Got portable air con from tesco direct, tried it in the van yesterday and no problems. Didn't take long to cool thing's down. Was using ehu.

Go to Spain and France in a couple of weeks so will let you know if it is up to scratch towards the end of August.

Hi Seacat, we got it from Tesco Direct £150.

Just had a look and it doesn't have any name on it, I will have a look in the van to find the instructions and see if I can find out.
