 I PLAN TO WILD CAMP IN MY MOTOR CARAVAN BUT A FRIEND TELLS ME IT IS ILEGAL I THOUGHT IT WAS OK IN SCOTLAND I THINK IT IS DIFFERENT IN ENGLAND

 just don,t park up over night if there are signs telling not to.

It is not illegal to pull in and park up .

If you have a drink hide your key's!!!! as my mate got done for drink driving when he had a couple of beers wild camped, got a knock on the door in the night and the police said because his keys were on his person and he was not parked on private land he was drunk while in charge of a motor on the road!!!!!!!!

We did this at Keswick!! We were so worried that the police may ask us to move on we hid the keys on a coat hanger underneath some clothes. We were gonna tell the police we lost them and our family were bringing us the spare set!! LOL

Lynda,

Just done 6 weeks touring Scotland and 4 weeks of that Wildcamping. Just don't stay anywhere it says not to. Certainly never bothered by the Police, and I spoke to one by the side of Loch Assynt at around 9.00pm. Have a look at the Wildcamping website previously mentioned.
