We are thinking of getting one, so would like to know any pros or cons people have with them. will need to be used as a second car too and carry lots of fishing tackle at times!!! ?? any advice welcome.......
Hi, try www.bongofury.co.uk, what they don't know about them isn't worth knowing.
I believe the weak points are the cooling system but they are learning workarounds all the time to try and prevent cooking the head gasket.
They are not very big inside for camper use, more suited to short breaks or a day van IMHO, I'd get cabin fever after a day or two lol.
Lots of alternatives coming in, Nissan Elgrand, Toyota Regius etc. Hard to find decent ones to import now I believe. Do not be tempted to buy cheap, do your homework and find a good one because there are a lot of dogs out there.
For once I agree with what Snowy says (Only jokin!!)
Yeah they are a great vehicle to own but please do some homework before taking the plunge, study www.bongofury.co.uk and learn as much as possible about them, register on the fury forum and ask as many questions as you like they are a helpfull crowd on there!!
Beware as there are some tatty examples, you can narrow it down by researching reputable dealers again no better place than the Fury!!
we are planning a visit to imperial autos , its only abput 40 mins from here. so do they have a good reputation then? its very scaery spending all this money!
We have had ours for 12 months with no probs whatsoever. We bought from JAL Imports near Worcester. Like others have said, look at loads and don't rush into anything, the right one will be out there.
Yes AFAIK Imperial are well respected. The bongofury website has a section with feedback about dealers if I remember correctly, you will also find various threads praising or otherwise so have a good read.
I think I would be looking at a Toyota Regius if I was in your situation. The reason being their superior reliability and also I believe decent Bongos are in short supply now hence the switch to different models. Do make sure you can verify mileage, a lot of clocking incidences at the ports from what I have heard.
I had one for over a year ...very versatile vehicle... never gave me any problems and lovely to drive ...found it just to small so bought a Toyota hiace....similar idea but bigger and more reliable not as sharp as the bongo to drive though...
