we're really tempted to buy a motorhome - right price, right spec. 4/5 berth
the only little quirk that i have is the kitchen layout. our old motorhome had the kitchen area across the back, which meant there was a really long settee opposite the dining area. the one we're considering has the kitchen along the side, which slightly restricts the seating area.
OH is just saying to go for it.....but i wonder if it will be as comfortable.
does anyone else have such a strong preference for either kind of layout?

------------- If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.
Our kitchen runs along the side, we looked at rear kitchens but decided we prefered the rear lounge with side kitchen, what this gives us it that you can use the dining table in the rear lounge as part of the kitchen worktop area without running up and down the van.
That's very true - plus, from what i've seen, the side kitchen in 4/5 berth motorhomes have a lot more to them than the rear kitchens. this one's got a full oven and a microwave. our last one had 2 rings, a griddle and a grill - no draining area near the sink and i had to use the worktop above the fridge as a kitchen worktop, which was no hardship.
but i really did like to stretch out on that long settee with a cup of tea and a magazine.

that sounds ideal andy. the one we're interested in has the seating and dining table opposite the kitchen area. at the rear, where the shower & loo is, there's another double seat, small table and a single seat.

If you go for the rear lounge with side facing seats then you cant fit proper seat belts or and its also not recommended to have people sit there while traveling if you check M O T web site so you could only have 2 people in mh we looked at this when buying ours and opted for the one with rear kitchen and side bench and after spending 24 days in it glad we did due to bad weather we had to sit inside instead of out in sun we opted for a elddis 130 autoquest.
We have a rear kitchen and central dinnette with long side bench and are happy with this layout. I find that the dinnette opposite the kitchen feels 'hemmed in'. My real preferrence would be a rear lounge but not an option as it would limit the number able to travel. It's like many things in life - a compromise!

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.
The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.
One other problem also with todays front wheel drive vans is the rear kitchen complete with fridge and stove ect makes for a lot of weight at the back which can cause poor traction in soft grass conditions, add a bike rack at the back only makes matters worse. I have always prefered the rear lounge layout, but as said its all down to personal preferance and compromise. kiev
Well, at 9am this morning we were having a test drive through Central London in it. As I walked through the door of the motorhome, I knew I wanted it straight away. Very very comfortable, and I can stretch out. The layout gives us more seating options too and the kitchen area is bigger and better laid out than we had before. So, we brought it on the spot. It actually has air conditioning too, which we didn't know about. Hopefully we'll get to travel the continent in this one

i did have reservations and even minutes before viewing it we were on the phone to another seller. but yep, you're right, it felt very 'us' as soon as we opened the door and walked in.
can't wait to get all the equipment in and kit her out ready for the off.

it arrived on thursday night, i kitted it out on friday and first thing saturday we were away in it - and what a beautiful weekend it was too - even had to use the air con as it was so hot.. i actually prefer the side kitchen now.
