Hi all, we have just purchased our first motorhome. we are planning on having a run out the weekend to give it a try. I used to have a trailer tent a few years back and have spent many nights under canvas. I used to have a few books with all campsites around the UK but for the life of me I cant remember the name. Could anyone advise me on what the best books are  to buy?    Thanks

I second that, you will have to go a long way to beat the campsite listings on this site

Hi I too think this website is brilliant for searching sites, the only thing is if JbPad is touring around with no internet access then you do need books as well.

Not sure if that is the case but we use a Cades book, along with being in the CC and also C&CC so carry those books with us too..............there are several more to choose from AA etc and some sites give away books such as 'best of british'.

For abroad we found Alan Rodgers guide really good (are you planning abroad too).

Read "The Recreational Nomad" by David Berry.ISBN 0-95277 15-3-5

It is a good wintertime read and it is not only crammed full of good ideas for the motorhome enthusiast but it will also gave you some ideas about possible trips both here in the UK and abroad. Perhaps future holidays.

Why not join the Caravan Club or the Camping & Caravanning Club or both?  You get excellent sites directories from both, with other useful information as well.

thanks for that. You hit the nail on the head I don't have Internet in motor home. I am looking at getting a prepay dongle. It was the cades book I used to have, I will look out for the others too.
Thanks all for the tips.

Yes you will need a passport, one for each dog. we are going through the process of obtaining one now. The cost per passport is around £160.00 and if your thinking of next sumer than you need to act now!! The vet will give your dog with a mild strain of rabies via a squirt up its nose! 30 days later a blood test is taken and if clear you have another blood test taken six months later. If that test is clear the passport is issued which i believe lasts upto two and half years (maybe someone will confirm or correct that) 48 hours before returning to the UK the dog must see a foreign vet and have some kind of tick injection and its passport stamped. If the 48 hours including travel time is exceeded before you land back in the UK, you could face the ultimate 6 months apart from your pet.

I was warned that If you move across a boarder after the first year of the passport has expired then you could have difficulty as some countries dont allow the passport to run longer than a year without renewing.
