hi is the bolt to release the wheel cage under the floor boards/carpeting? Other than that you may have to push the cage up to rlease the teeeth on the holding bracket.
hope this helps you but let us all know how you get on.
------------- you may be frustrated now but infront of me there is a big incline . yeh it may be slow but it is in front
hi thanks 4 reply. nothing under boards but we found a rod attached to the jack. theres a hole above bumper at the back of van tried the rod to wind it down but nothing happening
On my Transit, the spare wheel was held in an "A" shaped cage where the legs of the A were hinged and the top of the A rested in a hook on a screw threaded rod.
Using a wrench and socket, you unscrewed the rod until there was enough slack to unhook the A cage from the hook. You then lowered the A cage until the top of the A rested on the ground and you then slid the spare wheel out of the cage.
Hi have got two transits both with the same spare wheel carrier as yours, if you go to the rear of the van and look at where the centre of the bumper is , just above it but below the two rear doors there should be looks like a small square hole. Get the jack handle and unfold it and insert it into the hole towards the front of the van, you should be able to locate the end into the recepitcle, then unwind ( anticlockwise ) if the handle is in the hole the spare wheel will start to lower to the ground. Takes a bit of pratice.
A few years ago We bought a 5 year old Duetto which had never had the spare wheel lowered and it was so stiff and we were glad as this was better than trying to do it in the dark and wet at the roadside (why is always night and raining when you need to change a wheel lol).
My OH lowers the one on our newer Transit regular intervals checking the tyres, greasing the lowering gear.
