IT WONT EFFECT YOUR WARRANTY AS YOU DONT ACTUALLY ALTER THE VEHICLE .

They sell to public as well as trade my assistors cost me £138.00 delivered to my house i had them on in about 2 hours complete absolutely superb the difference is unbelievable.

Oh! That's great..both the price, the public bit AND the fact it wont effect the warranty..

(I'd assummed that any none standard chassis tinkering would mean you fall foul with the warranty)

Can I just ask delboy'..what sort of difference did they make to your ride height?..as it's this I'm looking to improve on..I realise that our wheel bases and tail overhang(and therefore geometry) will be different,I'm just after some rough idea of the likely gains..

Chris

Just had an email from Grayston...They've two kits for mine,a 1000kg and a 1300kg "minimum" axel rating*..

Both at £210 p&p..but with a 4-5 week delivery time!...

(*I'd have to speak with them to check which I'd need,as states on the plate under the bonnet that our rear axel is rated at 1650kg Max!..)

I've just found that Marcle Leisure do an air suspension kit for only £320 inc p&p!!

Didn't really intend to that far into it..but if I've got to pay over £200 I may as well look at all the other options!

thats a good price for air system pepe but please check that is for both sides inc the compressor and all linkeages etc .

the grayston system gave me 6/7 inches empty so i get a good ride height loaded but i have found the m/h does not flinch when i am passed by big artics and high sided vehicles etc and that bit is great.

The Marcle Leisure kits are complete, ready for  the DIYer but they don't included a compressor as standard(although they can supply one),I think they do include a pressure gauges though..

I'm really undecided which route to go now..

The idea of a gadget to play with IS appealing ..but as I said earlier,I really didn't intend to get drawn to far down the "..fettle with your suspension.." route!...I'm happy enough with the ride as it is(..no real body roll worth worrying about)...

I'm just after an increased rear ride height..not stiffer/tauter/more supply..just heigher!

If only the Grayston quote had come back nearer the £150+ mark and the springs were in stock,I would quite happily go with them..

delboy',is that 6/7 inches the actual tailend "increase"?...or what you've ended up with now?..

(by the way..thanks for your input.... )

i enjoy the input because this is something i enjoy with a passion .

as for the ride height that was extra 6/7 inches on empty but i was suffering wityh saggy arse syndrome as my m/h is 22 years young so that was tailend increase.

but when i am loaded with the racebike genny awning food  family and tools etc it rides at a respectable level and does not flinch sideways when being passed by larger vehicles . Why not ask grayston if they have any other form of suspension aid for your m/h you never know unless you ask.

I see no reason why you can't fabricate the frame that secures to the chassis of the camper and buy a "type approved" towing ball - who would know...

The company who repair after it's had an accident, then the insurance company and then..... no insurance!!

It's a risk that may not be worth taking.

if i fit a roof rack or change the tyres should i tell my insurance company ?what if i fit a boot rack is that worse or better. wind deflectors on the front doors  could spoil the airodynamics. dont put stickers on the vehicle as they might not be original. we have to make sensible decisions through out our lives , some seem to spend their lives worrying . get it made dont put a ball on if not towing ,call it a rear protection bar stop worrying . have fun .

Well I think that is the best answer anyone could come up with for a while I have thought that perhaps some people sit down and deliberatley think of the downside of most things.

Well written vwalan I am so most definatley with you on this one .

On 'Towtal's website

Does EC Type approval apply to motorhomes?

Currently, EC Type approval is not in force on motorhome or RV towbars. However, we work to all EC 94/20 standards and our towbars leave the workshop with a weight stamp

There we go.

We often hear companies that manufacturer towbars make quote such as "high quality steel, better welding, made to measure" but unless these towbars have been tested we are just relying on someones guess as to whether it is strong enough. It's a sure bet that hardly any of these experts will have had any real expertise in the manufacture and testing of towbars or loading limits on the extended chassis used in many MHs.

If you buy a non-tested towbar you must accept that it may or may not be man enough for the job.

Another unknown in the equation is that tested towbars are tested for the ability to tow vehicles, not their ability to carry heavy scooters which will impose a totally different type of loading to the towbar.

It' frightening what risks people are prepared to take.
