Just had my rac renewal in , i have, Level of membership, Family solutions 3 cover roadside & recovery & at home. Type of membership, personal based which basically means that we are covered in our own vehicles or a passenger in another, but not commercial vehicles. I thought i would give them a call before paying to check whether it would cover the motorhome. No says the rac man not unless i am a member of the cc or ccc, said i would think about renewing. Has anyone else come across this ?
Thanks Berni, knew there was someting else to add to the orignal post, rac man said he would give me a 15% dicount if i joined the club but then realised that i already have a 30% discount for not calling them out, so then he says join the club and it will be covered at no extra charge.
I would check maximum size of vehicle they will recover as I think they do have a size limit. You can of course buy you motorhome breakdown insurance with your vehicle insurance. This is often a better option if you want continental cover.
------------- Sell my camper? I'd rather eat school semolina!
From memory when we purchased the van two years ago, the AA said it had to be under 3.5 tons, laiden. Dont qoute me, but the conversation went along the lines of if the vehicle is more than 3.5 tons then it wouldnt be recovered! To be on the safe side, we went with the recovery deal that was offered by the insurer.
Caravan and camping club have a special deal with the RAC and if you are a member they will give you a code to quote to the RAC and it with then give you discount and it will cover your caravan/trailer/motorhome no problem.
They will recover your caravan from the campsite if necessary.
Thanks for the replies, rac have now agreed to cover the motorhome at no extra cost as i already have a 30% discount this year just had to quote c&cc memerbership no.
RAC cover me and mine and my motorhome as I get the Personal Response blue badge package did not even ask for CC&C or CC membership apparently Blue Badge trumps the others ....
