This is probably a daft question..

..but on our Compass Suntor('07),does the selector switch on the control panel(leisure battery >vehicle battery ),also determine which battery is being charged when connected to the mains...

I'd always assumed that the charging of both  batteries was automaically handled by the charging unit?(..tho' maybe at different rates?) ..but I can't see anything in the handbook about it..

(..our previous 'van,a Duetto, didn't have a change-over switch as,I assume, everything "habitation" came off the leisure battery automatically!)

Normally while plugged into the EHU only the leisure battery is charged, not the vehicle battery.

The selector switch determines which battery is to be used for 12v power, van or leisure. When on EHU only the leisure battery is charged. The van battery is charging when the engine is running.

Oh! I see..I was correct in thinking that the switch just selected which battery you are drawing off(vehicle or leisure)..but wrong about the hook up charging the vehicle battery..I'd better stop using the cd in the cab to much then!..(I'd always assumed it was charging both  )

The switch on my control panel is a 3 way switch. When the battery charger is switched on the left position charges the cab (starter) battery, when in centre position the charger supplies 12v circuits - lights and water pump. In the right position it charges the leisure battery. If the charger is off then the selected battery will supply the 12v circuits. It is obviously not a good idea to run the 12v from the starter battery except in emergency as it might flatten it and make starting difficult.

The control panel is a Plug In Systems Ltd. unit.

Well I think on ours  on ehu both are charged cause come saturday night they both have the same reading  ,ie 12.6 v.

Ah!..so I take it that different manufacturers have diffrerent set-ups then?...

Does any other Compass Suntor(Avantgarde?) owner out there happen to know how their 'van is wired?

(...suppose I could always leave the sidelights on,whilst on EHU,to see if it flattens the vehicle battery!?!...)

Perhaps not eh!..

Not advisable, but you could do so for a while then check to VD on the meter.
