Nothing wrong with Ebay or any other site that sells campers. The most important thing is to check out the seller properly, either on Ebay or the shop front. Dont kid yourself you have any better protection anywhere else. If a dealer wants to knock you he will and you cant do a thing about it. Small claims court etc are next to useless to a determined knocker.
Get it checked by AA/RAC and HPI'd after you have seen it and want to buy it. If the seller is not keen about any trials and tests walk away. You want their home address and home phone numbers and if it's an Ebay dealer you want to see a good feedback history going back some time. If it's a private Ebayer make sure the van is in their name and you see it at the address on the log book.
Everything else is suss.
Though it does mean you might miss out on the odd *quick sale* bargain, but then do you feel lucky?
