I saw a Galaxy conversion at the York Motorhome show 4 years ago but 'fraid I can't remember who the converter was.

Hi, We have a Delica and the seats are captain seats which turn around to make a large bed plus twin batteries for lights etc, So that would be the only main difference between ours and your galaxy, we dont have the sink, cooker etc fitted we have a  small gas portable cooker, but what we use that makes a big difference is the Movelite XL awning as it is big enough for a double bed compartment and room for a table and chairs. You dont need the gutter attachments just use the throw over straps and you can then drive away during the day. We now have more 1-2 day weekends away with this set up rather than take the caravan as we can go further quicker and set up quicker.

If you are thinking of converting a Galaxy it may be worth asking the people who are most likely to have a stab at doing it themselves SBMCC  These are the Self Build Motor Caravanners. Quite a few people have had a go at Bongos, so why not a Galaxy / Alhambra / Sharan? Good, practical vehicles; you will just have to use a bit of imagination to make it work

There is a tent that fixes to the tail gate and becomes an integral part of the vehicle - that could be worth looking at. CARNOPY is the name. The Carnopy is also sold by Towsure

I saw one on e-bay a few months back, looked really good. Had a small sink & cooker etc with a pop-top.

The wife keeps sayin to me she thinks that something like this might be a good idea for us, cuz when we had our M/H we seemed to use it nearly every weekend, but now we have gone back to a tin-tent we go away less often.

your probably looking at around £2000 for the pop roof alone so unless you do high miles(though you never mentioned if your galaxy was diesel or petrol)   I have a look at a bongo....far less bother, far more practicality...and much more space .....

Slightly off topic, but have you any idea where I can get seat covers to fit the captain seats in our Granvia? I've tried all over the place but can only find universal seat covers, which of course are too small. Any suggestions most welcome.

(Apologies for hijacking the thread)

Hi, if you are looking for waterproof ones that look ok for everyday use, by that i mean not too 'commercial' try draper, Obviously my seats are slightly wider and has armrests, but they do one that is suited to seats like mine with headrests and also armrests. It has velcro side panels that can be opened to allow them to fit around the armrests. I think it was called draper professional range.
