Viv, my dongle arrived yesterday, but not as yet tried it, getting our David to do and set up my new wireless router as well, he is the wiz kid, me and gadjets just dont get on.
I am off to get a vodaphone one on Monday. Then I can search for campsites on line, while travelling around the country, in the glorious Summer, I am determined we are going to get this year.
Sorry haven't been on the site for a few days and only just seen the post by Romahome.
The problem was that we couldn't get the disk to load. Got in contact with Vodaphone helpline who just talked us through doing what we'd already done before calling them. They then told us "there must be something wrong with your laptop"! It was a brand new laptop.
When we contacted Vodaphone sales, they told us that there is sometimes compatability problems - the helpdesk didn't tell us that! Anyway, they just told us to return the disk and dongle. It was arranged that it would be collected a couple of days later on Friday after 12. I got home about 11.30am and they had called at 10.30! Contacted Vodaphone again, arranged for collection the following Friday (I'm only at home Fridays and they don't do weekend collections!). This time they didn't turn up at all and I stayed in all day - what a waste of time.
Contacted them again, got the salesman's name and address and posted it back to them by special delivery and got them to agree to a £25 credit for the inconvenience. But as I said previously I've got to wait until this month's bill to make sure they've refunded the first month's payment and not taken another one.
Ours is an old laptop (by modern standards) running XP. The dongle didn't come with a disc but loaded from some internal software on the dongle. The message came up reading CD but there wasn't one.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
Well I went to get my Vodaphone dongle, but popped in to Orange shop first. They said they were bringing out a PAYG dongle next month which would compete with Vodaphone. I don't need one quite yet so will do a bit of research on which has the best signal range and cost and go for whichever is the best option.
