My leisure battery is not holding a charge so I want to either a) charge it up on a battery charger and do some tests on it or b) replace it. But it is located under the drivers seat and the onle way I can see to get it out is by taking the seat out but the seat is fixed with what look like 8 pointed star shaped bolts - my trusty Phillips will not do the trick. How do I get the seat off to get at the leisure battery?

The Leisure battery has been working fine but over the weekend, and after driving the van for about an hour and checking the onboard panel the charge shows 2/3, then drops straight to 1/3 then R (reserve) so I'm trying to diagnose where the problem lies. I have had the van for 1 year but it is 10 yrs old so no idea how long the leisure battery has been installed.

On final question - under the passenger seat is a silver box with lots of wires etc I have no idea what this is for - is it part of the charging system for the battery - sorry ofr being vague on this

The van is a Mclouis 430.

Thanks

cant help with the charging system , but all you need do is buy a set of spline drive keys they are not that expensive and will soon have you on the way to removing your seat. It does sound like you have passed the sell by date on your battery though.

hope this helps you let us all know how you get on.

If you want to undo the bolts you will have to buy the correct tool. count the points again. 6 & you will need a Torx driver or socket, 12 & you will need a Spline socket of the correct size, both available from Halfords.
