Hi all nice forum, has anyone had or in fact still has a Peugeot compass drifter 350, Brenda and me are looking at one this weekend but know very little on what to look for. We've looked up on the net but can't seem to find much info about this particular M/home such as weight, specs , fuel econ etc.

If anyone can help with any info at all i would be ever so partly what grateful.

Cheers

Cliff.

Hi ceymore

I've looked at one of these vans in the past but can't recall what it was like but no worries

First off look around the outside for obvious damge to the corners & luton overcab area, this is where most of the vans watertight seams are any guffs = potenial leak if it has a bike rack give it a good old shake n pull, is it loose? has it got a roof access ladder, if so get on roof check roof seams & skylights etc

Inside check EVERYTHING get plugged into mains is it charging do the lights, taps, toilet work 12v system, open all windows & skylights. Look in all cupboards including under seats for smell or sight of damp use a damp meter. Turn on cooker, fire, fridge all gas except fridge ( multi fuel ) check all 3 systems on this. If it has blown air does it work, look at zig unit do all the dials work, does it look like its been loved? look for the weight plate normally next to habitation door on outside.

Base vehicles are pretty reliable 2.8 turbo having the most grunt, & are fairly bomb proof, 1 fault you may come across is, if you look at the plastic wiper arm mech. cover at bottom of screen ( outside ) there are two voids underneath, one houses the wiper motor the other is empty, the empty one has a water drain off pipe at the bottom, this gets bunged with debris, resulting in rainwater ingress into cab with will inturn blow your heater blower resister, so just pull the pipe off if you buy it, as the void holds about 1 gallon of water. Expect to get around 25 mpg from most models, if engine seems to flag a bit consider getting it remapped,it makes a world of difference

It's very very hard not to look at it through rose tinted glasses, so look at it & go away then come back after dinnner & do it all again try to find as many faults as poss

Lastly you will know if it's the van for you as soon as you open the door

Many thanks Mick and all help/info is welcome, I now know that the engine is a 2.5 td, its a 2002 model and its done  14500 miles give or take. It looks and feels good inside but it hasn't been used for approx 2 years. Been started up and moved occasionally but thats about it.

We'll know more this weekend when we take it for a test drive and test its 'sitting with a glass of red wine on the drive' capabilities...!

Cheers

Cliff
