If you run the RM212 fridge just on electric or battery(whilst driving) would you still need the original venting connected or would a simple plastic vent do for cooling the system.
You will find that on electric or 12 vots it does not matter wether you leave the vents on or off, that applies to driving and when static, but on gas function you must remove them for cooling purposes obviously, hope that helped somewhat.
I have the RM 212 in my van,so I am confused to why you are saying use a cooling fan,it should have the vent on the outside for gas,the 12 volt is used for while traverling, and 240 volt for on site if EHU is used, which will have the bottom and top outside vents.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
I have no vents fitted as yet as I have only just bought the fridge.I've seen a couple of these fridges fitted badly and running on gas without the back being sealed off from the interior.Even though vents are fitted.
I only want this one to run of the battery or electric hence the cooling question with the fans.
it should be installed to the manufactures instructions.with the proper exhaust fittings to the outside for gas,and one bottem and one top for cooling if used with 12 volt while traveling or 240 volt on site if EHU is used.

Hi Allsorts, I think I have a copy of the RM212 fitting instructions in my file collection, if you need a copy please e-mail me and i will gladly send you the PDF file.
Even if the fridge is running on electric you need vents to allow cold air in from the outside & the warm air out. If you dont have vents the fridge will not work so well. The separate issue with gas is that you must have an exhaust pipe to the outside from the burner.
------------- Sell my camper? I'd rather eat school semolina!
As Marty points out youhould install the vents regardless of which mode you intend to run the fridge on. It is not much more work and will ensure the correct operation of the fridge in all tempratures. The vents help to keep the fridge cool as they allow the heat to dissapate (must have swallowed a dictionary!) that builds up in the cooling process.
If there is anything else we can help with just shout! (Not too loudly though as we have two new grandkids to keep quiet for! lol)
Many thanks every one for the replies and thanks papa pip for the files.
Where I have positioned the fridge in the van is right in front of the sliding door I hadn't planned on renewing the cooler that was there.
Even though I can vent the exhaust to go outside the only way of venting the fridge in this position is to have the bottom vent coming through the floor and the top vent on the back of the cupboard which is accessable whilst the sliding door is open.Hence the reason for the fans.
The only problem being is that the warm air will be circulated back in the van with door closed and directly outside with it open.
I must stress that NO gas is supplied to the fridge.
