 afriend of mine with a fairly newish motorhome wants to power up his 240 v sockets through an invertor from his leisure battery so he can run  the microwave tv  dvd sky whilst off site. does he have to disable the 12v charger so as this does not affect the system ,

p.s. am i clear as what he wants to do ?

I would think not as the 12Volt needs to charge the leisure battery,BUT he will need a very big inverter to power the things mentioned i.e. a 3000watt inverter has a peak load output of around 1600 watts!!,and this would discharge the battery very quickly(you would need at least two batteries),would he not be better off with a generator?

Most inverters are only good for around 300watts for an hour or so.

Why is he not using his 240v system?

I use an 1800W inverter, use it for cooking (1200W appliance) also for modem, satellite, sky and charing the PC's
